Apple appears to be developing its own technology to improve local device discoverability, with several possibilities detailed in a patent filing published this week by the USPTO. The patent submission, which is titled "Local Device Awareness," describes a new system that could allow devices to be discovered by other devices located in close proximity. Unlike existing network discoverability, however, Apple's technology would rely on individual signals, such as RFID, communicated from each device....
